2024-2025 Catalog

Military Personnel

Active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces including Military Reservists and members of the National Guard and their dependents stationed in Colorado are eligible for in-state tuition consideration. Under provisions of Colorado law, the college will permit non-resident active duty military personnel, their dependents, and most Veteran students to qualify for in-state tuition. Military personnel are required to notify the Registration, and Records Department each semester they are registered, that they want instate tuition for that specific term.  Instate tuition will not automatically be applied without contact with the Registration and Records office each term.  For more information, call 303-361-7363.

Students using education benefits through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) should contact the Military & Veteran Services Office each semester to ensure required paperwork is on file. Students must complete the Certification Request through the Military Benefits section of MyCCA. The priority deadline to submit the request is three weeks prior to the start of the term to ensure files are reviewed before classes begin; earlier submissions are encouraged to ensure timely processing by CCA and the VA. Submissions typically take 1-2 weeks to review and we will follow-up with you through your CCA email account and the Notifications channel of the Military & Veteran tab on MyCCA.

In compliance with Title 38 of the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, §3679, prior to the published tuition deadline, students eligible for benefits through Veteran Readiness & Employment and the Post-9/11 GI Bill® must complete a Certification Request and have documentation from VA demonstrating continued eligibility for VA education benefits or their enrollment may be terminated. Acceptable documentation is a recent award letter, Certificate of Eligibility, or a Statement of Benefits from www.VA.gov for students using the Post-9/11 GI Bill or a current electronic authorization from the case manager of students using benefits through VA’s Veteran Readiness & Employment program. Provided this information is submitted prior to the tuition deadline, students will be held in classes without any penalty until tuition and fees are paid by VA.

Tuition and fees are reported to VA after the course drop deadline and payments will be applied to student accounts once received by CCA. Failure to successfully complete courses, including failed courses, drops, and withdrawals, may result in a reduction of benefits payable to the student and/or CCA. Students may also be required to reimburse CCA for previously paid benefits if VA requires that CCA return funds. If for any reason VA determines a student is ineligible for benefits, if benefits expire during the term, or if the student isn’t eligible at the 100% funding level, the student will be responsible for paying the balance on their account.

Students receiving benefits through Montgomery GI Bill-Active Duty, Montgomery GI Bill-Selected Reserves, or Dependents’ Educational Assistance must have pending financial aid, payment in full, or a payment plan scheduled before the tuition deadline to remain enrolled in courses.

Community College of Aurora accepts tuition assistance (TA) through the Department of Defense programs and the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. Eligibility for tuition assistance programs is determined by the individual military services. See https://www.dantes.mil/mil-ta for information on current approved tuition rates, application procedures, and information on submitting your approved TA request. Approved TA forms should be submitted to 3rd Party Billing (ThirdParty@CCAurora.edu) by the tuition deadline listed in the schedule booklet, or as soon as you register for classes. Tuition assistance will not be invoiced until after the census date (drop deadline) for classes.
