EDU 4553 Assessment and Identification of Students with Disabilities

Examines assessment practices for diverse learners, with an emphasis on culturally responsive evaluation, data interpretation, and eligibility determination under federal law. The course provides a comprehensive overview of assessment types, tools, and legal requirements, along with strategies for designing effective plans, communicating results, and supporting instructional decisions. Topics include the development of academic skills and intervention strategies, as well as collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams. This course includes a field experience component.
