2026-2027 Catalog

English Transfer Major, A.A.

The Associate of Arts (AA) in English program prepares students for successful transfer to a four-year institution to complete a Bachelor of Arts in English or a related field. Grounded in the humanities, the program develops students’ abilities to read critically, write effectively, think creatively, and engage thoughtfully with diverse perspectives. These are skills essential for academic success, civic participation, and a rapidly changing workforce. Students study literature of varied cultures and worldviews, developing critical analysis and empathy, while developing voice, confidence, and clarity in their communication skills. These skills support upward socio-economic mobility by preparing students for a wide range of careers that value strong communication, critical thinking, and adaptability, including education, law, media, marketing, public relations, advertising, and other professional fields.

The English (Literature) AA includes coursework aligned with transfer requirements across Colorado institutions, ensuring students can complete their first two years of study at Community College of Aurora while receiving high-value instruction and academic support that fosters intellectual curiosity, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning.
