TRIO Student Support Services Programs
The mission of the TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) programs is to provide comprehensive academic support to selected first-generation, low-income college students and students with disabilities to foster individual achievements and overall successes. The Community College of Aurora offers two Student Support Services programs:
- TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) - serves first-generation college students, students who are designated as low income or who have a documented disability. This program works with students who have English as their first language AND students who have English as a second or other language. This program is limited to 160 eligible participants each year.
- TRIO Student Support Services English as a Second Language (SSS-ESL) - also serves first-generation college students, students who are designated as low income or who have a documented disability and is specifically designed for students whose native language is not English. This program is limited to 140 eligible participants each year.
These programs, funded by the US Department of Education, offer an array of services designed to make your college career a success. From an assigned dedicated Academic Coach dedicated to your success to supplemental tutoring and success workshops, participation in a SSS program will help you to make the most of our college education. Capacity in these programs is limited and students wishing to participate in an SSS program must be eligible, complete an application, and participate in a brief interview. Students participating in these programs are expected to meet with an assigned academic coach regularly, participate in workshops and other program events, and utilize various academic supports.
